Background

Introduction

On 19 February 2024, the Government announced that seven medical institutions in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (“GBA”) have been included in the Elderly Health Care Voucher GBA Pilot Scheme (“GBA Pilot Scheme”) to enable eligible Hong Kong elderly persons to use health care vouchers to pay for outpatient healthcare services provided by designated departments/services of the GBA pilot medical institutions.

The seven medical institutions included in the GBA Pilot Scheme are:

To provide integrated services (all with dental services)

• Guangzhou: The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University (“FAH-SYSU”)
• Nansha: Nansha Division of The First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University (“FAH-NS”)
• Zhongshan: Zhongshan Chen Xinghai Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine (“ZSCXH”)
• Dongguan: Dongguan Tungwah Hospital (“Tungwah Hospital”)
• Shenzhen: Shenzhen New Frontier United Family Hospital (“NFUFH”)

To provide dental services only

• Shenzhen: Shenzhen C.K.J Stomatological Hospital in Luohu District (“CKJSH”)
• Shenzhen: Dental Bauhinia Specialty Service Center (Shenzhen)/Dental Bauhinia General Care Center (Shenzhen) in Futian District (“Dental Bauhinia”)

Eligible elderly persons may use vouchers to pay for the fee of outpatient healthcare services provided by the designated departments/services at the pilot medical institutions starting from the dates below:
